Remember those little squash bug eggs I showed you last week? They've grown up and hatched- I didn't get a good shot of them- but they look like the ones of this pumpkin. Maggie got to work spraying the bugs with a solution of cedar repellant and water. The cedar spray actually smells like a cedar cabinet...we'll have to wait and see if the spray will do the job on the squash plants.
Speaking of smelling nice- irish spring soap now borders our freshly-planted soybean seedlings. The deer (and japanese beetles) have been pretty nibbly with the soybeans I planted, so we've given up on them and started fresh.
I also took pictures of the sweet bouquet I picked for my office, the three methods we used to stake peppers, our first ripe tomato, our harvest pile of peppers, cucumbers, pattypan squash and zucchini. nasturtiums, and the amaranth which is now taller than me.

Man, I guess that's why y'all are the professionals. After I see bunches of bugs like that in my garden I usually say, "better luck next year..." and start going to the farmers market, shouldn't give up so easily!
