Daffodils

I am planning to cut some forsythia this weekend to force indoors, but in the meantime, inspired by this post on design*sponge, I'm all about the daffodils! We don't have any blooming here quite yet- but I know it won't be long... Daffodils remind me of my mom, who let me "garden" in a bed along the house that never received much sun. The only things that came up were daffodils and crocuses every spring and even though all I ever did was minimal weeding, I felt entirely responsible for their success.

Anyways, it's obvious what makes me feel like spring has arrived- now you tell me:

Here in South Carolina our daffodills have been out for a few weeks now, but they are always a beautiful sight and indication of Spring no matter where you live.

I voted for the peeps and I don't even celebrate Easter. I love those things!!!

Hi Mary- I wholeheartedly agree- enjoy your spring!
Hi Fern- Ha- I'm glad someone voted for Peeps, I had to mention them since I live in the same city where they're made- they actually have a "Peepmobile", this yellow VB bug with a huge Peep on top that drives around town.

I don't really know.... I guess it's the Fressia's, pretty little bulbs that grandma used to call the fairies flowers. I've spotted them around the garden to spring up when the time is right (September here). Abby - I've also just awarded you the 'I Love your Blog award'. See my blog for more details.

Here in Florida spring is sprung when the cypress start leafing out and the iris put out their blooms...and the tomatoes start going downhill!

Certainly the persistence of new flowers from bulbs (despite no care form us humans all winter) announces spring for me.
Also the profusion of wild onion in the yard. When I mow the grass for the first spring cutting it smells like I'm making a really fresh salad!

Thanks for the award Tamara, I left a comment on your blog.

Wow Misti- irises already!? I've lived in PA too long I think :).

Hi Arz- I think that's what I love about bulbs too- every year I consistently get a few spring flowers in my garden bed- from bulbs planted years before I moved here!
