Test Garden Blues
Wednesday, September 3, 2008 at 11:33AM Actually, it's the end-of-the-growing-season blues, the nights-are-getting-chilly blues, the quick-get-in-some-fall-crops-before-putting-your-beds-to-rest blues. Pam's got 'em, I've got 'em, and I'd guess most gardeners in this part of the country do too. Last night it was pitch dark here at 8:30- normally that's when I'd just be getting out to my garden to putz and weed and harvest.
But, what can you do? Plant arugala, spinach, and eventually garlic, make enormous quantities of marinara and pesto, and enjoy as many warm evening walks as possible, I guess.
On a more upbeat note, I'm planning to soon execute an idea I've been wanting to do since starting at OG- which is to have a lunch for OG staff and test garden workers made solely with produce from the garden. I mean, we're not brewing our own beer or anything, but at this time of year, I think there's plenty of produce to assemble a tasty lunch.
So these pictures are partly to show you what's happening in the garden, and partly to remind me what ingredients I have available.
*P.S. I also added a list of blogs and sites I frequent so check them out! (the left sidebar under "Good Places."

thanks for the photos, very nice... and your companionable gardener words and work.
keep at it!
I had similarly large sunflowers, but the birds were enjoying them so much, I've left them in my tennessee garden. Also learned gourds are best left on the vine to dry, until all else is gone.
