Recycled Gift Wrap Ideas
Thursday, December 18, 2008 at 12:28PM Once I've acquired gifts for every last nephew, sister and friend, I know I'm not quite ready for Christmas until I've got everything wrapped and ready to go.
But not only do I loathe tacky Christmas paper (and storing it all year long), there are plenty of other creative way to wrap presents thoughtfully with recycled materials. Here's a post I did last year on the same topic, but I found some fresh suggestions as well:
These tin can ornaments would also make lovely gift tags:

from Little House in the Suburbs, via craftzine
Add pictures from last years Christmas cards to plain bags or boxes to dress them up, from martha.
Newspaper-covered wine bottles, from Danny Seo.
(this link really just takes you to his post about his new book, but I think you can figure out what to do from looking at the picture).
See also, Woven trash gift wrap from Craftzine (not pictured).

My favorite (but most time consuming) recycled gift idea last year was little bowl and lid I made to hold the present I was giving (a tiny ornament). I liked the idea of the container being part of the present. I don't have a tutorial for this but this site has a pretty similar project with tutorial.

Cool! I'm going to log to this article in my next article. Love the wrapping ideas.
Hi again. My blog entry linking to this entry is now up at Full Bloom.
Cool, thanks Monica!
The bottle covered in magazines looks really fashionable - now I am thinking of using colored and shiny magazines as well.
