the locavore's hundred (?)

Can we get to 100? I've started with 10 things you should try if you come to eastern PA- it's up to you, readers, to add the rest! You can add a local ingredient or actual restaurant, or even something that may be unaccessible to the public- .ie: if you make the best vegetarian chili in all of kansas, say so! Just like the omnivore's hundred, this can be a little whimsical. :)

  1. Flint Hill Farm's goat cheese
  2. Local dandelion wine (sweet and syrupy but worth trying)
  3. PA Dutch diner version of lettuce with hot bacon dressing
  4. Amish wheat bread, Renningers
  5. Paper-thin middle eastern flatbread from Elias Farmers Market
  6. Lobster tacos from Apollo Grill
  7. Tostados from La Lupita
  8. Neopolitan pizza from Martelluci's (hole in the wall but best crust ever.)
  9. Latte's from Mas Cafe
  10. Homemade Peach Ice cream (with fresh, local peaches!), Kelly's Ice Cream
  11. Chicago style hot dog from a good ma and pa place in Chicago
  12. polish with sauteed onions and a beer at Sox Park in Chicago
  13. Horchata from a good Mexican restaurant (or Pancho Pistolas in Chicago)
  14. A Yocco's dog with everything
  15. Ice cream stand pierogies
  16. Funny cake
  17. Peter Brothers' bacon
  18. A pepperoni hoagie from Ruggierios in Roseto
  19. Cheesburger Sub at Sam's New York Style Pizza in Quarryville, PA.
  20. An Italian ice at Johnny's Beef or Mario's
  21. Mug-o-vera's Pizza and Ribs

I added a few suggestions from a commentor, so leave a comment and let me know if you have more!

I have three more...

1. Cheesburger Sub at Sam's New York Style Pizza in Quarryville, PA. I don't like the rest of the menu but I love their cheeseburger sub. I make a point to stop by there when I drive through Lancaster County. Don't ask how a guy from Chicago found this place. I just did.

2. An Italian ice at Johnny's Beef or Mario's

3. Mug-o-vera's Pizza and Ribs I like the pizza there. I don't know what it is. There's something that's addicting in it.

I'm headed back to the Philly area (King of Prussia actually) for a week. I might take a one hour detour and try out some of those places. I'm a sucker for good ice cream. Mmmm... ice cream. If you have any great ideas for the Philly, let me know! Thanks!

Where does one get Dandelion wine?

Hm... I made my own dandelion wine... I think you have to just know the right people.

If you're in Northeastern PA during the summer, I'd recommend Summerhouse Grill in Montrose. It's a small restaurant in a restored carriage house, and their entrees include ingredients from local farms. I love their maple soda.
